5 Overlooked Gaming Gems Of This Generation

1. Pure

Pure

You didn't see this coming, did you? Nobody saw this coming, did they? I wonder how many people have actually genuinely heard of Pure. I know of about two people who have, and I personally know about twenty people, so that isn't a lot. Pure is an off-road quad bike gaming dream in the form of a vehicular SSX. A game that I still play from time to time for quick bursts of show-off pleasure, Pure is an enjoyable title and one in which it takes a considerable amount of time to achieve everything. Developed by Black Rock Studio of various ATV games, and published by Disney Interactive Studios, with not a mouse or pirate in sight, Pure is a visually stunning and perfectly-controlled masterpiece, in the racing genre spectrum of course. The game is built around a trick system of audacious look-what-I-can-do stunts that reward the player with boosts, and depending on the race type, points for the more spectacular body twists. Pure has three different race types; Freestyle, where you perform tricks aiming for combos for points before running out of gas; Sprint, which is a short race over five laps; and Race, which consists of longer courses over three laps that provide varying heights of jumps from the house step to the "let's just drive off this skyscraper height, no problem". Pure is another game that was heaped with critical praise from all corners of the globe, but didn't drive on to become a reasonable seller, with chances of a sequel running on flat tyres. A game I can't highly recommend enough for longevity, and quick bursts of fun, Pure really is one of this generation's biggest overlooked gems, and it's a damn shame. Pure can be picked up for cheaper than a pair of socks, really, and you shouldn't hesitate to get it. What other overlooked games would you recommend? Let us know in the comments.
