5 Reasons Cyberpunk 2077 Will Be The Best Game Of 2019
1. The ‘Punk’ Is There
From the evidence so far, it’s already clear the ‘punk’ in the game’s name has not just been thrown there as a buzzword.
As well as the open attitude to sexuality, the female V in particular has a definite punkish vibe, with her jet black eye shadow and jagged undercut. Similarly, from a story perspective, the world of Cyberpunk 2077 sees greedy capitalists conglomerate their power into mega corporations, paving the way for a vox populi uprising. A more punk backstory you could not get.
Add in CD Projekt Red’s storytelling ability and V is likely to exist in shades of grey. There will be no simple black and white choices between good and evil. While punk music brings to mind heavy thrashing of tuneless guitars, cyberpunk has always been a genre of subtlety.
The game also has a refreshing attitude to nudity, being both open and completely sexless. While romance storylines will no doubt include scenes that use nudity artfully, the character creation system debuted with naked characters. In the demonstration, any potentially offending parts were pixelated but the full release may do away with that. And there’s nothing more punk than free-spirited vulnerability.
