2. Bayonetta
Bayonetta is, of course, the protagonist of the game Bayonetta. She is only one of two remaining Umbran Witches, an ancient order that serve as the counter point to the legions of Heaven. Bayonetta has lost her memory (don't they all?) and finds herself fighting in search of her past, as well as the survival of her future. She's a modern witch with more training than R'as al Ghul could give her. Wearing a pair of sexy specs and a suit made out of her own hair, Bayonetta cuts a fearsome figure. Now her hair doesn't just make up her clothes. It is used in a number of rituals, most importantly embodying the physical presence of friendly demons that can be used in your fight against the angels. With a penchant for lollipops and the most up-beat of pop music, Bayonetta is the kind of heroine that games have been calling out for. Sure we had Lara and a couple of others, but Bayonetta pips them all in the cool stakes. She's funny without being quippy, confident without being irritating, and so in-charge of her obscene figure and mind-blowing sexuality that she sidesteps all of the girls-in-games arguments by owning any men who so much as breathe her way.
