5 Reasons Why You Should Drop What You're Doing & Play Bayonetta

1. Gameplay

Bayonetta 2 And number one on this list, as it should be when talking about any combat-based game, is the gameplay. Playing Bayonetta is like playing the best bits from Devil may Cry, Heavenly Sword, God of War, Dante's Inferno, and Street Fighter, but moulded into something completely new. Each and every combo and move is graded and, obviously, the more flair you use, and the longer you keep it going for, the more style points you get. Style points lead to cash, and cash leads to buying better moves that can in turn lead to better combos and more style points and... it goes on and on like that. When it comes to fighting you have a button for each hand, a button for each foot, and shoulder buttons for dodging, blocking and specials. It's an incredibly intuitive set-up that feels second-nature almost immediately and makes you wonder why anybody bothered to change it up after Bayonetta's release. So yes, you kick and punch, and between each blow you connect them all with the guns you carry and the ones that are strapped to your stilettos. It's a constant treat for the eyes as you waltz and flip and bash your way around the levels, dispatching the angelic hordes with an unending barrage of attacks. Mix into this the afore mentioned Witch Time to add yet even more razzle-dazzle to proceedings and it's almost as fun to look at as it is to play. Then come the special attacks. Bayonetta can summon iron maidens, beds of nails, giant morning stars, guillotines, and a whole host of other ancient torture devices to help her in her brutal cause. It's fun, it's varied, and like I said right at the beginning of this article, it's something that you'll keep playing, over and over again and, when it's finally played out and you've seen and done all there is to do, you can join me in lamenting the fact its sequel is only coming to the Wii-U. So there it is, the penultimate part of my Games you can get for cheap and should really play series. Hit me up in the comments below if you already love this game, or even if I've convinced you to play, or you can spit an opinion my way at @CGibsonWrites on the Twittershpere. Next up comes the final game I'm going to try and sell you based on its awesomeness in the forthcoming article 5 Reasons you should drop what you're doing and play Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning.
