5 Reasons Horizon Zero Dawn Is The PS4's Most Exciting Game

1. An Open World That Demands (And Rewards) Exploration

Horizon Zero Dawn

It's certainly clear that Guerrilla Games wanted to stand out from the (over-crowded) reft of open world games with their setting, and they've certainly succeeded so far. The way that the futuristic enemies and technology clash with the slightly prehistoric aesthetic allows the setting to feel unlike anything seen before.

If the breathtaking visuals aren't enough to convince you to explore your surroundings, GG has added in a loot system that includes crafting and special items that can help upgrade Aloy's weapons.

This allows exploration to not only feel fun on its own, but it allows players to feel like they're accomplishing something when they find that exact crafting material they need for that trap or bow upgrade. That's without even mentioning the varied environments, which includes anything from grassy greens to frozen wasteland sections.

It remains unclear just how many secrets are hiding out in Horizon's massive open world, but it'll surely be a lot of fun finding out for ourselves. Besides, when exploration involves coming into contact with robot dinosaurs, how can you pass up the opportunity?
