5 Reasons Marvel's 'Superior Spider-Man' Would Make A Great Video Game

2. Standalone Casting

One of the most expensive challenges that a video game tied to a movie will face is managing to secure to physical and vocal likeness of the film's stars. Beenox's recent games have suffered through attempting to make a movie tie-in with neither films' stars' real likeness or voices, having to replace him with a whiny, caricature of the hero. The tie-ins to Sam Raimi's did manage to secure the voices of most of the film's stars for their characters, however wooden delivery and poor writing managed to dispel any potential these games had in making meaningful links to the films. Other Spider-Man titles have fared more favourably in this regard, as titles like 'Shattered Dimensions' don't draw such comparisons to the thanks to some thematic distancing between the different mediums. These games, like Rocksteady's Batman: Arkham series, were able to grant their heroes their own voice, both literally and metaphorically that can exist alongside movie versions of the hero. By basing the story of a new Spider-Man game on a comic series rather than a movie or TV series, the game's developers grant themselves the opportunity to infer their own voice onto the protagonist and other major players. While readers of the comics may well have their understanding of characters' voices influenced by what they have heard in movies or TV series', these characters are separate and would attach themselves more convincingly to new voices and adjusted appearances. The very fact that Otto would serve as narrator to Spider-Man's actions in this game is surely cause enough for a whole new take on the character's internal voice.
