5 Reasons Why Being A Video Game Cyborg Sucks

3. Body Part Collecting

One of the grosser, but thankfully rare, parts of being a cyborg is collecting your enemies' body parts (or having your body parts be collected). Usually there's some purpose to doing this besides sadism and defiling the dead for fun. In Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon, you (as Sergeant Rex Power Colt) rip out cyber-hearts from dead cyborgs to lure Blood Dragons (T-Rexes with lasers) away from you or towards enemies. In Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, there's a technique for restoring health and energy called Zandatsu. It involves cutting people apart, then grabbing their spines, and smashing them in your hand while shouting stuff like "Dead on!" and "Bullseye!" Even worse, cutting off the left arms of certain cyborgs winds up getting you a new bit of gadgetry, so you're given even more incentive to chop people into bits. To realise how horrible this is, remember this: most cyborgs in Metal Gear are brains in robot bodies, and have their pain receptors turned off. That means when they get sliced into pieces, unless they're lucky enough to have their brain sliced apart, they're probably still conscious when they see their spine get smashed into goo. There's certainly worse ways to go, but it makes you appreciate the games where you just get shot to death more.
