5 Reasons Why Resident Evil Needs To Return To Nintendo

2. It€™s Rubbish

Resident Evil 4 I love the Resident Evil series, fairly obviously. This makes the gradual change in direction all the more disappointing. The series was often criticised for being samey and refusing to move with the times €“ all before Resi 4. The series has fallen into stagnation and is similarly stubborn when it comes to change. The main problem is that the series has ceased to innovate. The series remained unmistakeable despite criticism. A story that was at once silly and scary never overtook the experience €“ Code: Veronica perhaps excepted. This has been dropped, and the new direction favours fitting the storyline and experience around a wider audience. This means, crucially, very few risks are taken, and the series never hands you anything truly new. Unnecessary minigames, unwieldy inventories; it€™s change for the sake of change, and for me Resident Evil 4€™s success was the worst thing to happen to the series.
