3. Story
"Grab your weapon of choice, it's time to save the universe!" Storytelling has become a big part of gaming these days and this is no exception in the R&C series. Insomniac seems to have struck a great balance with both young and older audiences, despite its animated style. When our heroes meet for the first time, let's just say it's not BFF's from the get go. The pair are thrown together by chance, and circumstances force them to team up and fight against all odds; so, it was fun watching their friendship develop over the first trilogy. Although the stories are mainly about some villain invading a planet or a former star losing his way, the narrative has a great charm to it, but when Insomniac brought the future series to the PS3, you could tell the studio had grown in confidence and evolved. The new trilogy told a more personal story for the duo, discovering why Ratchet was left behind by his kind and Clank, even though he's small, does plays a bigger role in the universe than you might think. The future trilogy was a real treat, and for me it took Ratchet & Clank to the next level.
