5 Shockingly Dull Minigames (In Otherwise Awesome Games)

4. Hacking - Bioshock

Bioshock is a captivating game set in Rapture - an underwater city built by a mad scientist that's now home to equally mad citizens. It has a unique, unsettling atmosphere that's just as immersive now as it was when it originally launched back in 2007. From the Big Daddy's to the Little Sisters, everything about the game is iconic and will stay with you long after your time at Rapture has come to an end. No doubt you'll also remember hacking. Not because it's fun, but because it's a core mechanic that the game thrusts upon you whenever it can. It's used to unlock doors, safes, vending machines and turn enemy turrets into powerful allies. Hacking is a puzzle game where the objective is to build a path of pipes to transport blue liquid from A to B. It's fine at first, but soon outstays its welcome. It feels rather odd to go from exploring an incredibly atmospheric and disturbing environment to moving pipes around like you're playing a dodgy Gameboy game. Thankfully the enemies are considerate enough to stop wildly shooting at you when you start hacking during combat. Bless their little, clinically-insane cotton socks.

When I'm not playing games, I'm probably either writing about them somewhere or singing stupid songs inspired by them. Or eating pizza.
