5. Primal Rage
Possibly one of the strangest games to come out on the SNES would definitely have to be Primal Rage. A fighting game that takes place in a post-apocalyptic world where civilization has regressed into an almost caveman style existence and prehistoric beasts have emerged to battle for the fate of the world using supernatural abilities based on the creature. It is indeed just as strange as it sounds. The gameplay is your basic 2D fighting style that was very prevalent of the era, but the combo system was extremely different than others and it was one of the few games of its time to feature fatatlities (some stranger than others). With some of the advancements made in fighting game engines over the years, it is past time for a sequel to this extremely original game. Instead of the 2D fighting developers could make a 3D arena similar to the recent Spartacus: Legends game, keeping the 2D fighting system would be counter productive to keeping it fresh compared to modern fighters. Add in destructible environments and a multiplayer battle royal style mode to have several giant creatures fighting it out and you could have a game that could compete with the constant stream of Mortal Kombat and Street Fighter games. The real shame is the fact that a sequel was indeed started, but it has since been abandoned.
