5 Things We Want To Improve In MMORPGs
One thing that struck me when I first entered Tyria, the Guild Wars 2 planet, was the immense detail that they had surrounded the players in. Each race has it's only story, showing a rise to power with beautiful cinematic sequences and epic battles to undergo. Although there is some grinding they attempt to mix things up with escort missions, protection details and larger scale battles making for a thoroughly enjoyable experience.
I've found that, though a lot of games attempt to place a large world around the players, it can be drowned out by large quantities of letters scrawled on a screen that few people would like to take the time to read. Perhaps voice acting is the way forward? Making things more entertaining and immersible, whilst keeping the option to skip in order to appease those who lack interest.
