http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nXyQCTgyjIw&feature=youtu.be Carmageddon 64 is a funny game. It's PC counterparts are actually pretty good. This is not. Even ignoring the fact that it's compared to the PC counterparts, this game is still horrible. It is generally considered one of the, if not the, worst game on the Nintendo 64. Why it was even released is beyond me. The game consists of you racing around tracks. Tracks that have some zombies standing on it for some reason. Also, the zombies are only interested in standing on race tracks as there is not a single zombie in sight if you venture off the track. Which you will do, as the controls are terrible. There is no slight turning in Carmageddon. It's either nothing or full; either straight ahead or perpendicular. Therefore, as this is a racing game, all of the game is frustrating and annoying, taking away from the easy to grasp arcade controls the PC versions have. Shoddy controls aside, there is also the physics and bugs to worry about. The cars seem to glide through the air like a paper plane rather than a object that weighs a ton. The car clips through walls, the camera does so too, and just look at the video below to see what happens when the car falls into water. The appeal of the PC version of Carmageddon wasn't the racing mechanics, it was the quick to learn controls, the arcade feel and the killing of random people in the street. Everything has been removed with the Nintendo 64 port; the controls have been lobotomised, the arcade feel gone and the people have been replaced by the race-track loving zombies that seem to just disappear in a little green blob when run over. Oh, and the graphics are horrendous, even for its release date.
I am a Computer Games (Art and Animation) student who is very passionate about gaming. I have grown up playing, analysing and making video games. I'm interested in all types of gaming.
Although, I make it seem like it so, gaming is not my entire life!
I enjoy drawing, photography, learning, reading, golf, snooker, travelling and (of course :p) spending time with my other half.
