6 Reasons Microsoft Needs A Great E3

6. TV/Sports

Halo

The Xbox One reveal left many wondering if the console would actually be able play games. The majority of the reveal focused on Xbox One as an all-one-entertainment device, able to switch between live television, fantasy sports leagues, and Skype simultaneously. And that technology worked great, almost seamlessly. But it does indicate that Microsoft is trying to broaden its target demographic, much like Nintendo did by catering to families and casual gamers with the Wii system. And now Nintendo is having to work overtime to regain its core gamer demographic, something Microsoft also needs to do in order to push this system.

Luckily, Microsoft seems to realize this and has indicated that E3 will focus on the games. That could be a great move, since the Xbox One will have at least 15 exclusives, 8 of which are new franchises. If Microsoft can regain the interest of its core audience with a strong lineup of exclusives, both first- and third-party, I believe the console can gain traction and earn sales. After all, it is a powerful machine. It just needs fantastic titles to show off that power.
