2. No Compelling Narrative
Call of Dutys Michael Bay-esque approach totally works in an immediately-satisfying way, much akin to watching Bruce Willis take down a helicopter with a police car, but an entire movie of helicopter-abuse would (probably) tire if it was drawn out over multiple hours (or in this case years). The lasting impression the likes of Black Ops big campaign-twist connotes are long gone, replaced in Ghosts case by a familial narrative depicting lots of Im proud of you son moments that seem to happen for the sake of the story, rather than those that are actually earned through exposition or adequate bonding time on-mission. Whilst you could argue that a Call of Duty campaign is just supplementary to the quite frankly daunting size of the online mode, I would still maintain that if any solo mode is going to be included at all, it should do something different and more involving than the tenacious oh-Im-dead-again bullet-dance that many online matches consist of.
