4. Tetris (Game Boy)
Tetris for the Game Boy was the way most people first experienced the puzzle game.
Just like Tetris on the NES, the Game Boy version hasn't got the bells and whistles of later entries but it was a portable version of Tetris which at the time was all the game needed to be. This is likely the reason that Tetris is one of the best selling video game franchises of all time, everybody owned this version of Tetris. If you were around in 1989 and didn't have Tetris for the Game Boy, did you even exist?
Whilst this is similar to the NES version, the Game Boy variant has the advantage of portability and multiplayer. With a Link Cable you can get a Tetris session going with you and a mate, is there anything out there more joyous than that?
Tetris for the Game Boy was later updated with Tetris DX. Tetris DX is coloured which is always nice but it's just not as iconic as the initial Game Boy version.
