1. Deliverune - Runescape
Jagex, the studio behind MMORPG main-stay RuneScape, are no strangers to quality April Fools' jokes, and this year was no different. For 2019, they produced a trailer for their new food delivery service, DeliveRune.
Promising to be the first delivery service which is 'breaking the wall between games and reality', DeliveRune was supposedly going to work simply by having your avatar wander up to a range as if to cook, and then instead place an order via the game for a delicious treat to keep you fuelled up.
Finally, players would be able to sample some of the finest dishes from the entire world of Gielinor. be that a delicious pizza, cake or...whatever toad crunchies are? Somehow, I don't see Jagex fulfilling the promise of orders being taken "from Summer 2019" but I really wouldn't mind someone delivering me some
It's almost a shame that DeliveRune is so obviously a spoof. RuneScape often sees players grinding out experience skills in order to progress, and that process would definitely be made far more enjoyable if accompanied by a lovely slice of redberry pie whilst you hack away at yew tress for hours.
