7 Best WWE Video Games For Recreating The Royal Rumble

4. WWF SmackDown!

The holy grail of WWE games in the eyes of many gamers. The early SmackDown games stand the test of time, even compared with 2K Sports efforts over the two most recent titles. This is because they have different types of gameplay. While the most recent WWE games focus on being as lifelike as possible, which can be frustrating at times, SmackDown! has 'arcadic' gameplay which is non stop and so very exciting. This made Royal Rumble matches very, very difficult to win. Even though you were limited to just four men in the ring at any one time, the action was relentless and came from all angles. You didn't have to wait the full two minutes for the next male wrestler, Diva or manager to enter as once one of the four spots became free, the countdown from 10 would start. Even better still, and something that should be included in exhibition mode Rumbles on the new game, was the fact that if your man was eliminated, you could play as someone else by simply hitting the select button. Revolutionary. Traditional methods of eliminating your opponent via a clothesline, Irish whip or even a punch and a kick arguably makes SmackDown 1's Rumble a more realistic match than any of the last five WWE games. How many times in the real life Rumble do you see a pair of wrestlers having a pushing match on the apron?
