7 Brilliant Platformers You Have Got To Play

6. Broforce

Broforce is best described as a freedom simulator, where bros (the members of the titular "force") run around and "liberate" the terrorists of their lives, in a Contra-style tactical shooter where you and your bro have to murder as many freedom-haters as you possibly can, while trying not to ever stop shooting. The flair of this game is made up of its already sizeable roster of playable bros ranging from Rambro (Rambo) to Nebro (Neo). The devs themselves have specifically noted that they will try to fit as much content into the game as they physically can, so expect even more characters to drop by with every subsequent update. The only thing all these bros have to have in common is that they are all based on famous movie action stars. This is the gap that The Expendables tries to fill in Hollywood but ultimately fails every time. There are two iterations of Arnie, bare-footed Bruce Willis, a certain Texas ranger, an afro-american vampire/human hybrid and so much more. Add to that the fact that every level can be completely levelled via explosives or even bullets, and you get a sense of what the "tactical" part of the game actually consists of - it mostly boils down to split-second decisions of which freedom-hater to shoot first. The game is in its beta stage for now, and while it is already greenlit on Steam, it might be some time until it gets a proper release date. But don't be sad; in the final game we'll get to shoot dinosaurs, aliens, terrorists... you name it.
