7 Characters That Must Be Cut From Super Smash Bros. Switch
5. Corrin
Corrin was added into Smash 4 as one of the final pieces of DLC - and, in other words, acted as a glorified advert for the latest game in the series at the time, Fire Emblem: Fates.
Sure, Corrin has a unique move set, but the move set isn't the problem here - Corrin is the epitome of extraneous characters being added into over-represented franchises.
Corrin has practically no personality in the game - a game where making it into the roster should be reserved for the revered icons. Smash Bros. already has one essentially nameless avatar Fire Emblem character in the form of Robin - we don't need two. Robin, at least, has a unique playstyle, mixing magic with swordplay. Corrin is yet another Fire Emblem sword user.
Not only that, but Fire Emblem: Fates simply didn't make the same splash that Awakening did. Fire Emblem was already increasing in popularity, but Awakening, which featured Robin, sent the series' popularity into the stratosphere in the West.
Fates arrived with a bit more of a whimper, so it seems unlikely that Corrin will stick around.
