7 Deadly Gaming Sins - ENVY
4. Sony Shamelessly Rips Off Smash Bros.

When you look at the sheer unmitigated success of Smash Bros., of course, that sort of monolithic weight is going to pull other would-be competitors into its orbit, after all with a game like that who wouldn't want to try and ape its success for a few bananas?
Well, a lot more have slipped on the peel than found success as the likes of Cartoon Network: Punch Time Explosion, Digimon Rumble Arena, and Rag Doll Kung Fu can attest as each of these games couldn't escape the eye and ire of Nintendo fans who lambasted them all as cheap rip-offs.
Yet none were more blatantly envious of Smash Bros. success than Sony, who launched their own version of the formula, Playstation All-Stars Battle Royale in 2012, Now before you hammer your keyboards into dust telling me the subtle differences between the two franchises, let me stop you, because I totally agree. After playing both extensively I can confirm that outside of the visual layout similarities and core gameplay goals, the way you eliminate foes and the strategies required for each encounter is pretty different.
However Sony still sits in this specific circle of gaming hell for one reason, that being that they decided to use the #smashbros tags on all of their trailers promoting All-Stars, making it clear to the world what market they were trying to nab, and in turn of which title they were truly envious of.
