7 Deadly Video Game Sins - Sloth!

3. Early Access/Games As Service

In essence, Early Access and this new trend of "Games As Service" model that seems to be flooding video game marketplaces are THE LAZIEST forms of video games that we have ever seen. Think about it: these are titles that are appearing for purchase, that aren't even finished, and in fact, many are so far off being classified as a final product that it's ridiculous.

It's a dangerous game to play as well, because even if you like what you see and pony up the dough, there's next to no regulation as to when the devs actually need to move a title out of this period of "Early Access" and so you might be left waiting for years just hoping the game will expand to what was promised. It punishes those who get in on the ground floor, and while I know there are a handful of games which DO deliver on their promises, there are so many more that didn't so much take the money and run, but took the money and just sat there on it shrugging off complaints while pointing to the "Early Access" tag.

Games as Service is possible even more sickening, as this new buzz-phrase seems to be used by much larger publishers, who all promise roadmaps, future content, and other amazing features, but are never held accountable to actually deliver them. Think of Anthem and its promises of a ten-year plan similar to Destiny, and how after it completely dropped the ball upon release, all those intentions went out the window. And at the centre of it all was you, the consumer, buying video game snake oil at full retail prices.

Support finished games. I can't believe this needs to be said in this day and age.
