7 Epic Moments From The Destiny PS4 Alpha Weekend

1. Literally Dancing On The Corpses Of Enemies

It wouldn't be an MMO without the ability to dance, right? After defeating the boss mentioned in #3, the group didn't just shuffle around aimlessly while waiting for the timer to count down. Instead, the Guardians danced. Yeah, you heard that right - danced. The D-Pad on the controller initiates a variety of emotes for your character to use, such as bowing, nodding, or the aforementioned dance. Interestingly enough, dancing in Destiny also has benefits on the battlefield. Since the dance forces the game to zoom out into a third-person point of view, it can actually be fairly strategic to use in order to sneak a peak around corners and gain a tactical advantage. This is particularly useful when defending control points in the Crucible so you can keep an eye out for enemies around the corner. However, it is pretty risky to stand there dancing like an idiot - those types of people make easy targets. In all seriousness though, it isn't really the literal act of dancing that makes the game epic, but rather the camaraderie that ensues as a result of this novel feature. While a lot of people might write stuff like bowing and dancing off as needless additions, they are crucial elements of interaction in an otherwise fairly emotionless game. Being able to see characters interact in real-time lends a sense of life to the Guardians, something desperately needed in the disembodied world of floating guns that is the first-person shooter genre. The only way that the dancing could be even more epic, is if it somehow managed to eclipse tea-bagging as the go-to taunt manoeuvre, but that's unlikely.
