7 Great Video Game Developers Who Keep Making TERRIBLE Mistakes

6. Ninja Theory - Jumping On Bandwagons

BLEEDING EDGE
Ninja Theory

If the bandwagon were full of AAA developers throwing ideas at each other, then Ninja Theory is the dorky kid running behind, catching what falls off.

To their credit, they have put out some strong, if waylaid titles. I'll fly the flag for Enslaved any day, as well as the DmC reboot. There's also Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice, a poignant take on mental health, that came out to rave reviews.

So it's not like they're floundering for ideas or anything.

Then why, oh why, do they keep jumping onto trends too late, when everyone's moved on?

Heavenly Sword came out not long after Kratos' first sequel, and fans weren't interested in another epic-scale hack and slash. As a result, have we seen another Heavenly Sword in thirteen years...?

Now Theory are back at it again with Bleeding Age, an... online hero shooter.

By all accounts, fair play for trying, but the market is just too saturated with them at the moment. Despite an extensive marketing push, the average player count is still not hitting a thousand.

Compared to Apex Legends and Fortnite, that's paltry.
