7 Great Video Games Playing Watch Dogs Will Remind You Of
4. Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective
Ghost Trick is a little known, much-adored DS game that find you possessing objects in order to solve crime. You do much the same thing in Watch_Dogs, and the results are exciting and occasionally hilarious. For starters Ghost Trick combines a pomeranian, eccentric dialog, a noir theme and supernatural elements to create a challenging puzzle adventure game. As you progress, the order in which you possess the objects and influence the gameworld become increasingly more complex and mind bending. Which is to say, completing objectives in Ghost Trick makes you feel smart. Meanwhile, Watch_Dogs lives or dies based on your appreciation of these hacking mechanics, and they too, make you feel smart. It works like this: You can 'hack' into any electronic device, be it a camera, cell phone, gas main, or dozens of others. You can jump from a camera to any other device, so it's possible to go from security camera to a camera on a guard's vest, follow that guard on his patrol route, then explode a nearby fuse box to incapacitate him. The idea is to use these devices to create chain reactions that will distract, kill, or lure away the guards between you and whatever your objective is. Similar to how Uplink's setting and atmosphere is reminiscent of Watch_Dogs, it's Ghost Trick's actual mechanics that will be the most familiar to any player eager to make connections between games.
