7 Memorable Zelda Dungeons: Ranked From Worst To Best

6. Water Temple - Ocarina Of Time

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is often regarded as one the greatest video games ever made. The game is nearly flawless, yet one blemish prevents it from perfection; the Water Temple.

Fans of the Zelda series have criticized this dungeon ad nauseam, and with good reason. The Water Temple is annoying, plain and simple. The dungeon is centred around two mechanics - changing the water level and wearing the Iron Boots - both being incredibly tedious. Having to constantly pause the game to put on the Iron Boots removes any sense of immersion, and repeatedly playing the ocarina gets old real fast.

Adding insult to injury, the Water Temple is one of the most confusing labyrinths in all of Zelda. Players will consistently get lost, forcing them to continually take the Iron Boots on and off and raise and lower the water level. This process will get on any gamer's nerves in no time.

Although the Water Temple is predominantly remembered for its annoyances, its bosses are also quite memorable. The main boss of the dungeon, Morpha, is one of the worst in Ocarina of Time. Consisting of a molecule floating around inside some water, Morpha is goofy and easy. Conversely, the mini-boss of the Water Temple is phenomenal.

The duel against Dark Link is one of the most satisfying battles in all of Zelda, and it is the shining moment of an otherwise miserable level.
