7 Most Amazing Video Game Tributes On The Internet

6. Super Mario Kart

This wonderful piece is the work of some students for their final year project. They call it a parody, but it's more an homage to the great game. It's a bit rough around the edges, but as my greatest artistic achievement at school was a lopsided papier mache volcano, I am in awe of this. Stop motion animation is probably the most ridiculously time consuming art form around, and when you're doing it with live humans the amount of work that must have gone into this is staggering, especially when one player hits the star and his clothes change every frame. The use of Mario Kart 64 sound effects is spot on too. It's good fun, very imaginative, and has some excellent comedy moments too, especially when one player crashes slides across on his stomach and then someone uses him as a skateboard. A+.

Richard has been playing video games since the days of the BBC Micro, (and incidentally when is Chuckie Egg going to get a reboot?) He is currently available for the post of Head of Marketing at Nintendo, seeing as no-one else seems to be doing the job. He's also a major fan of fantasy/sf books and is just waiting for his novel about an assassin who doesn't wear a hood to get picked up.
