3. Fez
Developer : Polytron - 800 Microsoft Points Fez was one of those XBLA games that seemed to have been in development since the dawn of time, constantly being promised but never materialising. So when it finally launched in February and we finally got our first glimpse at the completed project, you wouldnt be blamed for thinking Well it looks pretty and I like this Gomez dude but what the hell was Phil Fish doing this whole time. Well stick with it because where FEZ masquerades as a cutesy pixelated plat-former with an equally cute gimmick, the ability to rotate the 2D world in a 3D, it evolves into a sophisticated cipher solving masterpiece. It's clear this game isn't going to be for everyone and I imagine a lot players played through to the first ending and then just simply stopped. If you do decide to continue forward and progress to some of the more challenging puzzles involving translating languages and deciphering codes, Fez can be an incredibly rewarding experience. It never once holds your hand and places the challenge upon you to find the tools to deconstruct the world yourself. I would urge you though if you do get stuck and you will, to look up the solution and continue on, as it's all to easy to get bogged down by some of Fezs harder mind bending riddles. Fez is definitely something a bit different, and if you fancy a unique yet challenging experience it's definitely worth your time.
