7 Point-And-Click Adventure Video Game Classics That Deserve A Revival

7. The Secret Of Monkey Island

LucasArts€™ swashbuckling masterpiece The Secret of Monkey Island whisked gamers away to a world of ghost pirates, insult sword fighting, and alcoholic beverages more corrosive than Xenomorph blood. The game and its hit-and-miss sequels followed the adventures of endearing wannabe pirate Guybrush Threepwood, whose quest to find fortune saw him frequently cross swords undead nasty LeChuck and win the hand of his love interest Governor Elaine Marley. Guybrush and the gang€™s latest outing came as recently as 2009 when Telltale brought us the episodic Tales from Monkey Island, a five-part adventure that treated the pirate series with the care and attention it deserved - for the most part, at least. For for all of its commendable efforts to revive a reemerging genre, the magic of the first two Monkey Island instalments was in short supply. Disney€™s decision to shutter LucasArts has left the franchise in the wilderness but, as the pioneers that singlehanded kickstarted the point-and-click craze, Guybrush, LeChuck and Elaine shouldn€™t be allowed to flounder any longer. There€™s a sure-fire way to rekindle the voodoo magic of yesteryear - hand the property back to original designer Tim Schafer at Double Fine. Guybrush€™s days of fighting like a dairy farmer would surely be behind him with the series mastermind at the helm once more.
