2. Transistor
Bastion is a game that had been on my radar since its release but also one that took me only up until recently to play. It is truly a great, contained and smartly executed little game with a solid central theme. That is a massive achievement and something many bigger games fail to achieve. If you haven't had a chance to play through it, I'd wholeheartedly suggest you look into it. It is a cheap buy nowadays and will give you a couple good hours of entertainment. That was back in 2011 and now Super Giant Games are back with Transistor. Where before they debuted on the Xbox Live Arcade, this time around they are going to be hitting the PlayStation 4 first (As well as PC and Mac). It is a big line drawn in the sand and a show of intent from Sony to get Super Giant Games on board exclusively. And frankly? The game looks awesome. Playing as a beautiful singer, Red comes into possession of a talking sword called the Transistor. Seemingly expanding on their striking artwork that helped define Bastion, the game is set in a futuristic setting with a mysterious female lead in the middle of it. The gameplay is going to a blend of real time combat and turn based strategy, allowing you to fight freeflow but also slow down time and set a sequence of actions up. A system some what similar to the upcoming XCOM: Declassified. It is a great system and I hope it is something Super Giant have implemented in a satisfying way. If this game matches up to its potential, it really could be one of the best games coming to the system.
