7 Reasons Why There Is No 'Realism' In Pokémon

7. Evolution

Pokemon Evolution Starting off with the big daddy, evolution is one of the most fundamental and enjoyable aspects of the games. You capture a Pokémon at a low level and battle with it until it gains a vast amount of experience. As it learns it will grow and eventually become a whole new Pokémon with different aspects including better stats and attacks. That's just plain awesome. We all know evolution exists in the real world. You can deny it all you want and protest its inclusion in school curriculum but that doesn't mean it isn't happening all around us. So what is so bogus about it? Well, there's the little fact that it occurs over time through the passing of genes as species adapt to their environments which takes many, many years before huge differences can actually be observed. So you mean that my poor little Magikarp won't suddenly grow into a ferocious Gyarados when he has twenty levels worth of battling experience? Erm, no, he won't. Furthermore, there are Pokémon that evolve only by exposure to certain stones. While this could be played off as mutation through exposure to certain chemicals, radiation, etc. it still wouldn't be as quick and each certainly wouldn't always become the same thing even when exposed to the same substance. There are also Pokémon that evolve by being traded, being happy, and even mega evolutions which aren't permanent. None of these truly makes any sense so it would be quite silly to debate said realism of the evolutionary concept.
