7 Reasons Why There Is No 'Realism' In Pokémon

6. Baby Pokémon

Baby Pokemon Also featured as one of the cheapest knock-offs created in Pokémon these pre-evolutionary creatures also serve as but one more reason why a lack of realism exists. Besides tying in with evolution baby Pokémon present another problem. Just where did they come from? It's understandable that there are some Pokémon exclusive to certain regions or non-indigenous to others which means one truly can be amazed to discover "new" Pokémon when exploring new areas. Discovering "new" baby Pokémon, however, makes little sense. We started with the Kanto region inhabited by Pikachu, Clefairy, Jigglypuff, and more. Upon entering the Johto region we discover that Pichu, Cleffa, and Igglybuff also exist. Being pre-evolutions for each of these Kanto Pokémon respectively how is it that they were never discovered earlier? There is no way that these creatures originated from these younger baby Pokémon without anyone ever having noticed or that only the more evolved form was indigenous to specific areas. It just doesn't work that way. Later generations continued to present previously established Pokémon with a pre-evolution that hadn't existed before making the idea even more farfetched. Furthermore - while on the topic of new evolutions being introduced - what about those that were later discovered to evolve even further? It is a bit more plausible but still difficult to explain if you're attempting to translate this universe to a real world setting. As stated in the previous entry evolution certainly doesn't work the way it does in the games and these "new" evolutions are just one more reason why it's silly to think it ever could.
