7 Reasons Why There Is No 'Realism' In Pokémon

1. Legendary Pokémon

Pookokokoko Each generation has introduced new legendary Pokémon and beginning with the second generation they've been the mascots for each individual game. Seeking the legendary creatures out and attempting to make them a part of your team is a great part of every game. But like ghosts and babies, legendary Pokémon are but one more reason why there is absolutely no realism within the Pokémon universe. First of all, in each game there has been only one of each legendary creatures. Unless these Pokémon are incredibly rare because all but one have died off then this makes absolutely no sense. How did these Pokémon come to be? Did they evolve from single-celled organisms into the vastly powerful creatures they are today? Are they products of parthenogenesis? Beginning with generation three the legendary Pokémon began to feature even more nonsensically into the stories. Hoenn's legendary trio consisting of Groudon, Kyogre, and Rayquaza are said to have shaped the land and sea. Generation four takes creationism even further with the legendary trio of Dialga, Palkia, and Giratina said to represent time, space, and antimatter respectively. Arceus is said to have created the entire universe. Now we're treading into dangerous territory. Is Arceus God? If we're going to try and compare Pokémon to real life and science then where do we place beings such as these? They feature more into fantasy than any other Pokémon, and are akin more to religion than science. So that's that. Please keep in mind that this isn't a rant nor is it meant to put the series down. It was simply a reply to what I found to be some rather strange arguments in response to a previous article. What are your thoughts? Tell us below in the comment section.
