7 Reasons We Need A Quality Tennis Video Game In 2014

5. Tennis Deserves An Annual Release

Four Slams Gif Like most sports, tennis has an annual season. It runs from January to November and a LOT can change in that year. Ok, so players don't change teams but then neither do golfers. Yet every year, EA Sports churn out another Tiger Woods title, probably the most relatable franchise to tennis. Not much changes in golf that doesn't change in tennis. And not much changes in each PGA Tour game that comes out apart from the occasional gameplay tweak and modernisation. The courses predominantly stay the same, as do the players. There is the infrequently added feature like the Legacy Challenge in the 13th edition or the opportunity to play as former greats in the latest release. So why shouldn't this be the case for tennis franchises? Like PGA Tour, Top Spin pays impressive detail to players' real life attributes, such as Nadal's unmatchable stamina or Federer's gracefully precise backhand and these were accurate strengths when the game was released. But it is fair to say now that Federer is no longer the most competitive player and players like Del Potro are much stronger contenders. So it is important to the franchise's realism and longevity that they make changes to reflect these power shifts. An annual release would allow tennis games to keep updated and modern like every other sports franchise out there .
