7 Secrets Of Dishonoured 2's Development

Dishonored 2
Arkane Studios

With critical acclaim and fan encouragement firmly under the belt, Arkane have demonstrated they are one of the most exciting teams currently working in the industry.

What does this crazy, yet brilliant imagination see on the horizon? Working with Microsoft on the long-awaited Skate sequel: Dunwall Grind? Nah, that’s a wish a long way from being granted. They’re close to going gold on a reboot of Prey, which will be releasing in April of next year.

What can we expect from the rebooted IP exactly? Inventive weaponry and gameplay mechanics; a space-set location, and poop-your-pants jump scares. The atmosphere stays dark, a la Ridley Scott’s Alien, yet it has a much more chilling edge than Dishonoured 2. You can even take command of a ‘Gloo gun’ that, well, shoots a glue-like substance. It looks and plays better than it sounds.

It’s fascinating to see how far Arkane have come, but realising that they were once at the helm of a Half-Life sequel is equally as ponderous. Surely, if there ever comes a time for Valve fan boys’ dreams to come true, Arkane would, again, be the studio collaborating on it.

But, for now, Prey looks set to be an early contender for 2017’s Game of the Year. Arkane may need to extend that trophy cabinet.
