7 Steps to Making a Memorable Video Game Villain

1. Vision

A clear-cut ambition is an asset to anybody. It places anybody on a pedestal of admiration when an aim is in his or her sight. Determination is a tool necessary to succeed in any area of life. Videogame villains are no different. Although their perspective of life may be twisted, they believe that their actions are for a better cause. That is why it is so important to stop them. A villain has to have an ideology. He needs a reason to be executing his master plan. The reasons could be any; exterminate inferior races; initiate a coup d€™etat; grant the possibility of scientific expansion; look for the antidote for a disease. Whatever the cause may be, it is the gamer€™s mission to pull their plug. Gamers are fed with reasons to take on their journey from its very launch. Identifying with motivations will always be the most memorable trait from either the protagonist or antagonist. Since we are against their view, though, it stamps their actions and intentions to the back of our heads. It is a prophecy waiting to be written. It is up to us if we are up against the challenge. I'm currently enrolled in the Film Studies program at the University of Copenhagen in Denmark. If you haven't guessed by now, movies and media are as a big of a passion for me as they are for you and would love to hear what you've gotta say as well!
