7 Terrible Video Games You MUST Play

4. God Hand

Demolition Girl
Clover Studios

Now let me be clear from the off, God Hand is NOT a terrible game, in fact in my opinion it's one of the more original brawlers out there and was stuffed to the 9's with over the top action and ludicrous content as one would come to expect from a Clover Studios title.

However, IGN had other ideas, gifting God Hand a measly 3/10 and thus marking it as "terrible" for their massive audience. This Ceasers Thumb was enough to kill interest in this title for many and it's only been thanks to a flavourous devotion from fans that we've seen God Hand climb up the ranks of the underground to become regarded as a cult classic.

The reasons why you need to play this "terrible" game are almost too many to mention here, but try I shall. The setting is absolutely insane for a start, showcasing a fusion of future punk aesthetics against a Wild West backdrop. The story is bonkers, telling a tale of demons trying to kill a man called Jene for his outstanding power aka the titular God Hand, and the fighting is suberbly barmy. Plus there's a delicious adaptive difficulty in the game which means fights get harder the better you do.

Using tank controls in a fighting game would be the death knell for many other games, but here, thanks to its focus on combos and crowd management, it somehow works, placing you right into the action and making every fight feel like a one on one duel to the death. It's cringy, corny, downright backward in places but God Hand's true strength is originality and it uppercuts the competition out of the bloody building as a result.
