Though the pre-release marketing didn't inspire much intrigue, PSVR's The Persistence is one of the year's most pleasantly surprising horror games to date.

A first-person stealth-driven VR Roguelike, The Persistence sees the player navigating a procedurally-generated spaceship, with the hook being that every time you die, you're re-printed into a new clone body, while the layout of the ship has changed.

Though the game never reaches the PTSD-inducing terror of Resident Evil 7 in VR - but what does? - it's certainly one of the most nerve-wrackingly intense PSVR titles to date.
