The latest oddball effort from Deadly Premonition director Hidetaka Suehiro aka Swery65 is an old-school puzzle-platformer with a deliciously contemporary edge, revolving around the titular protagonist as she attempts to locate her missing pal Emily while on a camping trip.

SWERY's typical quirky excesses are here in abundance and won't be for everyone, but the sheer creativity on display - namely the ability to continue playing after death, albeit while retaining the gruesome injuries you've sustained - and pervasively eerie mood make it a singular delight.

If you played Limbo or Inside and thought they were too subtle, this might be the game for you. It'd be easy for it to end up more silly than scary, but SWERY carefully balances the tone to keep players sufficiently unnerved and unsure of what to expect next.

It's only about five hours long, so if you're looking for a game you can blast through in one sitting this All Hallows' Eve, look no further.

Have you played any of these horrifying games yet? Got any of your own recommendations? Shout them out in the comments!
