7 Things We Hope To See In The Demon’s Souls Remake

6. Revised Areas

Of the five areas you can explore in Demon’s Souls, the majority are a roaring success. However, there’s a couple of sections which are a slog to get through.

Once again, the Valley of Defilement is where the most attention is needed. Intensely hostile poisonous swamps are a recurring motif throughout FromSoftware’s games, but few are as notorious as the one which appears in Demon’s Souls – known as 5-2 by the fanbase.

Not only do you need to contend with negative status effects aplenty, but additionally your movement is slowed to a crawl and the entire area is poorly lit, forcing you to squint into the distance to navigate by the distant gleam of scattered loot.

Rather than being a fun challenge to overcome, it feels more like a boring chore to endure. Brightening up the area and adding a few more recognisable landmarks would make traversing the area more enjoyable.

Stonefang Tunnel suffers much of the same problems as listed above, particularly when you reach the lower depths and start contending with lava rivers and anonymous tunnels. Once again, clearer signposting would alleviate these problems.
