7 Things We Hope To See In The Demon’s Souls Remake
1. The Sixth Archstone Restored
This would be the big addition fans are hoping for.
The Archstones are what the player uses to travel to and from Demon’s Souls separate areas. Of the six in the Nexus, the one leading to the Land of the Giants was broken and inaccessible.
Rumours abounded of ways to activate it or that it would be included as dlc. Sadly, it wasn’t a secret but a portion of the game which had been scrapped for budgetary reasons.
Committed fans who data-mined the game found unused assets for this area, including a vast snow-covered fortress and monster designs which don’t appear elsewhere in the game. It’s all very low poly and half-finished, but it’s interesting to see how far FromSoftware got in development before they abandoned it.
A quick internet search will bring up video’s showcasing the assets. It’s clear that the setting and some of the gothic-looking NPC designs were later used for Cainhurst Castle in Bloodborne.
Each of the games that followed (Dark Souls series, Bloodborne, Sekiro) contained hidden areas which were typically home to the toughest challenges those games had to offer.
It would be great to see the Land of the Giants incorporated into the remake this way. Keep the area inaccessible till the late game, until the player discovers an alternate route there, and fans would go wild.
