7 Upcoming Licensed Video Games To Get Excited About
2. Project 007
James Bond games are almost as old as console themselves. Which makes it strange that the MI6 spy has been off the market for almost a decade (Activision's terrible 007 Legends back in 2012, being the latest effort).
That appears to have changed, as IO Interactive, fresh from successfully wrapping up their rebooted Hitman trilogy, have announced their desire to move on from Agent 47 to Agent 007, with their next game.
All we know is that it's called Project 007, yet the prospect of the dev matched with the material is mouth-watering, as it feels like it could open up an entire other aspect to the character and the IP.
All Bond games, from classic to bad, exclusively focus on the blockbuster set-pieces and bombastic moments of the films, over the tense spy work of Ian Flemings novels.
IO could still take this the familiar approach, although what is more likely (and exciting), is if they move it into Hitman territory, where your Bond is able to tackle his missions with an open-ended sense of choice and freedom, and that could put a massive helping of tension and espionage back into the franchise.
