When Shepherd's crew takes the war with the Reapers to the Krogan homeworld, Solus not only develops a cure for the Genophage but wants to distribute the cure despite the will of his race's government fearing another uprising from the Krogans.
His willingness to lay down his life to save others serves as a galvanizing force. It allows the Krogans to finally reclaim their survival and for the player, it makes things even more personal as the Reapers take yet another comrade.
