7 Video Game Villains Who Were The Hero All Along
6. Captain Quark - Ratchet And Clank (Remake)
Now this entry is a little strange because unlike others on this list who recognize the forces of good late into their villain career, Captain Quark actually has two villain redemption arcs thanks to the original Ratchet and Clank game receiving a pseudo-remake/video game film tie in which address his events differently. I tell yah there's enough face-heel-face turns here that the Big Show is getting hot under the neck folds.
In the Ratchet and Clank universe, you'd have to have been living under a rock to not have heard the name of Captain Quark, a monstrously muscled specimen who has personally dug the graves of evil-doers with his chin of justice, which made his surprise betrayal in the original game something of a shock to players and to his number one fan Ratchet. Taking a fat payday and eliminating the competition he saw in Ratchet's heroism, Quark sided with Drek but was defeated by Ratchet in both the original and the remake, yet it's here where Quark's paths diverge, as in the original continuity he continues to plague Ratchet with hair-brained schemes until he's finally redeemed through his actions in Up Your Arsenal, but in the remake he finally overcomes his jealousy of Ratchet and helps him battle Drek before then naming him the new leader of the Rangers.
So that's two happy endings for the price of one! That's almost as good as getting half-price anti-fungal ointment with each purchase of a personal hygenator!
