7 Video Games With Enormous Hollywood Movie Potential
1. The Last Of Us
Part coming of age story, part analysis of what it means to be human, The Last of Us pits characters that we truly care about against disease ridden, cannibalistic creatures often with dire consequences. Visually the game is a masterpiece and the dystopian USA is a breathtaking sight to behold as are the grotesque beasts our heroes have to kill to ensure survival.
As with all great post apocalyptic tales, the human survivors have the potential to be far worse than the arcane and this exploration of the human condition provides a great subtext for potential filmmakers to explore, alongside expertly crafted set pieces.
I loathe to go into too much detail here for fear of spoiling the game for those unfortunate enough to have not played this emotional masterpiece so let's leave it as this - The Last of Us is one of the greatest games of all time.
The culmination of graphical fidelity and narrative in video games. Although many would argue the game doesn't need an adaptation as it was a riveting cinematic experience on its own terms (and rightly so), I believe this a story that everyone deserves to experience.
The big screen would provide that opportunity.
