7 Video Games With Enormous Hollywood Movie Potential

Many moons ago, Steven Spielberg and Neil Blomkamp were signed on to produce and direct an adaptation of Microsofts biggest franchise, Halo. Steven. Spielberg. Unfortunately there were arguments over the budgetary constraints and control of the general direction of the project and it fell apart before really getting deep into pre production.

However, anyone that has been fortunate enough to see Neil Blomkamp's live action commercials will know that Halo is the perfect property to adapt for the big screen, heralding a forked narrative alongside breathtaking visuals and effects.

The early games would prove perfect for adaptation allowing a filmmaker to create Saving Private Ryan in space. The score by Martin O'Donnell in now a part of gaming legend in its own right, providing a great blueprint for a composer if the adaptation went in to production. This really is a game built for the big screen.

Of course this will come at a huge cost to the movie studio that decides to buy the film rights from Microsoft, considering the setting and exotic characters, but with a built in fan base and an enormous cast that opens up the potential for spin offs, it would be money well spent.
