8 Amazing Soundtrack Moments In Video Games

2. Still Alive - Portal

Johnathan Coulton’s Still Alive is a song which has remained in the cultural consciousness of gamers since we first came across it during the credits of Portal. As a nice reward found at the end of the original game it celebrates arguably the best part of Portal as a franchise: GLaDOS.

Still Alive is a sweet little easter egg to round off your time with Portal. It's a final burst of the sarcasm which made villainous AI GLaDOS such a memorable character in the first place. Hearing her robotic voice set to music was a perfect end to the journey through the Aperture Science Testing Centre, adding a more human element to the character which was only built upon in the much deeper sequel.

Still Alive set the expectation for another song at the end of Portal 2, and whilst ‘Want You Gone’ is a more complex and upbeat track, there’s just nothing quite like the original and its relatively mild stylings that provided just a little bit more of the character that made Portal as enjoyable as it was.
