8 Awesome Resident Evil Games That Almost Happened

7. Resident Evil 3: Gaiden

HUNK has long been a fan favourite character, having first appeared in The 4th Survivor mini-game from Resident Evil 2. Despite many - usually non-canon - appearances ever since, he€™s never been given his own game, though that was the original plan for the third Resident Evil on the PS1. At the time, the game was dubbed Resident Evil: Gaiden and was intended to be a side story. Plot details are sketchy, but it would have found HUNK trying to retrieve a sample of the G-Virus from a cruise ship which was in the midst of an outbreak, and plant monsters would have been a common enemy throughout. The idea was to make a tense, claustrophobic experience but in the end, it was decided the scope was too small, and Capcom wanted a more epic adventure to end the PS1 era. The development team was expanded, and the setting switched to Jill Valentine€™s escape from Raccoon City before its destruction. The cruise ship setting and Gaiden subtitle was recycled for a poorly received Gameboy Colour game, with Barry and Leon become the eventual leads.

Handsome. Charismatic. Intelligent. Noble. Witty. I'm none of these things, but I'm a half decent writer, I guess.
