8 Awesome Resident Evil Games That Almost Happened

6. Resident Evil: Outbreak File #3

The Resident Evil: Outbreak spin-offs were ambitious €“ but fatally flawed €“ attempts by Capcom to make cooperative games in the universe, but the iffy game design and lack of support eventually doomed them. The games were hampered by an annoying inventory system and stiff controls, but the amount of playable character - and their unique skills - helped give the Outbreak games a different feel to the rest of the series. They revisited iconic locations such as the Police Station while exploring unseen parts of Raccoon City, like the subway or the zoo; there was even a zombie elephant running around in there. The planned third game €“ File #3 €“ would have followed the survivors through more new locations like the pier and high school, and teaming up with HUNK at one point for a mission. The lukewarm response to the spin-offs ultimately killed plans for the release of File #3, though a sizable fanbase for the games has built up over the years.
