8 Best Video Game Endings You Can't Get On A First Playthrough

3. Dragon's Homecoming Ending - Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice

I can't think of a video game ending more frustratingly obtuse than the Dragon's Homecoming ending from the otherwise spellbinding Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, and while I did eventually knock off this ending through sheer trial and error, it was at the expense of multiple playthroughs and quite possibly a piece of my soul.

FromSoftware has never been shy about delivering nuggets of storytelling gold through esoteric means, often requiring the player to have the knowledge of precisely where to be and what to do before even being aware of those parameters in the first place. They are a company that seems to build games in such a way so that they can sell walkthrough guides but then forget to actually make the guide when all is said and done.

In order to get the Dragon's Homecoming Ending which sees the power of the Immortals returns to the Divine Realm and away from the temptations of humans, you basically need to learn how to both consume tonnes of and then strangely abstain from eating rice.

I'm deadly serious.

While there are many other steps required for this ending, many players fall foul of not using a Divine Child of mystical origin as a bloody rice vendor so much that she falls asleep, and again forcing our little lord Kuro to make sweet rice balls for us to eat. Yet don't you dare eat the rice that was meant for Kuro otherwise you'll be trudging through the entire game once more.

If you tell me you got this ending the first time around without any help, I'm not calling you a liar...but I totally am.
